  1. Great job guys!

Sara, you were born to be a roamer!

    Couple of things I noticed:

Vocalists: We need to create more energy on stage. We must find new ways to engage the congregation during each specific song.

Susan, you did a great job with this!

Band: We need to SMILE!!!! The camera gets you guys when you least expect it. Let's SMILE more:) And feel free to sing along too...

Nathan, you did a great job of this, I saw you singing several times... It has a HUGE positive impact when folks see band guys singing the words even without a mic.

Gary, great job of leading us in a good direction spiritually. I love how you put a lot of thought and preparation into what you are going to say and when. It's very nice!

BTW, I went to Garner this Sunday and they were ROCKING!!! Can't wait to see some of you guys down there in the future.

  2. CG Perspective:
Slides and song lyrics did not match for most of the songs which detracted from crisp and accurate slide changes. Would love to be able to meet with whoever is the worship leader that week prior to rehearsal with the band. Things are ever changing and would very helpful to have a very solid base with the music before the rehearsals start. With that being said I need to step up my performance - made to many small mistakes.

From an observer - the band was great, cameras were spot on, message was great.

  3. Same comments from the lighting guy. Gary and Heidi were headless most of the service. Both stepped back several feet from the mark and were dark above the shoulders. This is a natural tendancy because when you are on the mark the light in the eyes is intense, so most people try to get out of it. I think to enhance video, we should go to a wash across the entire front of the stage. Our stage is small and the distance from the lights to the stage is short so sweet spots are small, discouraging much roaming. The answer is either less wandering or a wash.

I liked the shot of the audiance during greeting. It shows people watching video that there is a big crowd live and an active church.

More energy would be good, especially spontaneous energy, which may encourage movement on stage, thus more reason for a video lighting wash.

Not many wide shots so never saw the PVP images or the big picture of the stage setup with the cross.

There were a few dark moments between cues and at he beginning of songs that need to be smoothed out.

  4. I think Sara rocked the roamer! WOW, for never even touching that camera before you did an amazing job! Cindy did a great job switching for the second time as well! Everything looked really solid except for Gary being in the dark for a few seconds between songs and for the most of the beginning of heart of worship. Not sure if he moved off his mark or what. Great job guys!

  5. It's a pleasure to serve with everyone who makes this happen each week! Great job!

Sara, I second Fuller's comment - you were awesome on the roamer!!

Gary - Great job leading everyone to the throne each service. Always a pleasure to serve with you!

Vocally, I think we need to keep working on blending and consistent tempo. We had trouble in some spots with this. (I was flat at times, which didn't help.) It's an area of continuous improvement for us all.

Don't know much about the sound mix and how it works, but Benji's voice was much softer on this post and was overpowered by keys during the end prayer -- hard to hear him.

Some really great shots from all the cameras

  6. band, we were tiiiight!
sometimes I try to sing but its hard when focusing on my instrument. Being a vocalist as well helps-
Also I found that just smiling and playing your instrument without movement or singing is kind of awkward.
So mix it up- whatever feels comfortable so we all can enter in without having to force it because believe me, people can tell.
    Good job singers!
Is the feed sound a little ahead/behind the visuals? Because sometimes it seemed like the singer's clapping was a bit off.
Love the camera work Sarah! Praise God for people who will give up 7 hours a morning just to help people enter in to worship!

  7. All in all the 2 EG parts were distinct as two HB-equipped guits can be. More could be done there though.

Us EG players should have worked out the staccato arpeg on the verse of Happy Days a little better - they noticeably conflict.

***I wonder if we can set aside some time during rehearsal for a Guitar Departmental Meeting.***

Nathan's keys playing was superb throughout.

Gary, that's the best arrangement and execution of Everlasting God I have ever heard!!!!!

  8. First - I am honored and totally thrilled to be a part of this team! Everyone is so encouraging and willing to give & support each other to make these services engaging and impactful...great job everyone! Sara - I agree with everyone...way to step up and make it happen! I agree with Henry. From my perspective, I had a really hard time getting shots this weekend. My camera ops were awesome - it's just that the stage was so dark - it wasn't dark when I looked through the tech suite window at the stage...it was cave-like on my screens...no wide shots, because there were huge dark spaces between singers/musicians...so more lighting would be awesome! Also, Angelo has incredible stage presence and should always be lit! (I know he doesn't think so...) One more note - the slide with the sky background and the person with their hands outstretched is cool - but a few times it looked like Heidi had arms coming out of her ears!!! So sorry! Thanks for letting me play/serve/have so much fun giving!

  9. Sunday was a great day and God was moving at central campus.
First a Big Thank you for everyone who serves, you are a wonderful group of people to work along side of with a special set of talents to bring worship and God to the people in central NC.
Since I have the honor of not mastering anything here goes a few comments about everything:

Everyone's dress on stage looked sharp, a good step forward to the Vision of wear what you would if you were going to be TV.

Dark Start to the service, The countdown timer was not working this week which made the beginning of worship very difficult

Angelo - Great energy throughout the service

Sara - Great shots from the side getting action shots of the vocalists especially during Happy Day and the E Guitar on Revelation Song

Video - Good transition on gain in beginning of Revelation Song

Heidi - Great movement and energy

During the message the Full Screen Slide up too Long for watching at home - (This was my call on Sunday)

Camera - Great use of wide shots to get props during the message

  10. Good job overall, everyone!

I agree about getting a stage wash setup. As it is we always have concerns about vocalists staying on their spot so they stay lit, but forcing vocalists to stay still inhibits energy on stage. So I think getting a wash is the best way to handle this. That way we can keep them lit, and they can have the freedom to show energy and move about some.

Also, as much as I hate to say it, I think we need to use fewer drum shots with the roamer now that we have a drum enclosure. Shooting through the plexiglass gives a lot of reflections that clutter the shot making it hard to tell what's going on (and even sometimes get the camera op in the shot). Or maybe just take quick cuts to the drums before going to another shot really quick.

  11. I agree with David on Drum shots and it does not help that I looked a little TOO SERIOUS!!! Need to work on my rock star face.

Think everyone is doing a great job and the MAIN thing is that we are playing for the LORD!

Gary, I feel the lord smile when you are leading!!!!

  13. agree with Rick that the verse picking part was an epic fail (my fault). I think even one side of the stereo delay was repeating so differently that it was even making it worse.

One thing though from a the biased EG department perspective. Rick's solo on "Revelation Song" was superb, but it was too short. I know we don't always have time for guitar solos, but in this case it made the transition back to the chorus seem a bit rushed.... IMO ;)
